Files amendments to fund dedicated public safety patrols across South Boston and the First Suffolk
Last week, Senator Nick Collins, as a member of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, voted for a Fiscal Year 2027 budget that invests substantially in public health programs and improves access to services across the Commonwealth.
Included in the proposal is $192 million for the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS), an increase over the previous fiscal year.
In addition to these statewide investments, Senator Collins has filed amendments to support dedicated public safety patrols across South Boston and the First Suffolk District.
These include funding for the Massachusetts State Police, the MBTA Transit Police, and the Boston Fire Department to cover Castle Island, Pleasure Bay, Marine Park, M Street and Carson Beach, as well as train stations throughout the district.
“I will continue fighting to secure the resources necessary to make sure our neighborhoods have the tools they need to be safe, healthy, and strong,” said Senator Nick Collins.
The Senate will debate amendments to the state budget next week.
